The American Swedish Institute is a gathering place for all

in Minneapolis since 1929.POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Finance
will lead ASI's financial strategies and operations, overseeing all
aspects of accounting and finance. This role is crucial in ensuring
ASI's long-term financial stability and supporting its mission. If

onsite working culture for the leadership team. The Director of
Finance reports to the COO.As the Director of Finance you'll get
to:Provide Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute ASI's financial strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance program
performance
- Participate in institutional strategic planning
- Provide financial counsel to leadership team, staff, and Board
of TrusteesLead Financial Management
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
- Manage investment portfolio and endowments
- Lead the annual audit process and tax compliance
- Implement financial technologies and best practicesBe a Team
Leader
- Hire, train, and mentor accounting staff
- Foster a culture of collaboration and professional
developmentManage Stakeholder Relations
- Present financial reports to leadership team and Board of
Trustees
- Manage relationships with external financial partners
- Ensure compliance with funding source
requirementsRequirementsYou're right for this role if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive financial management experience
- Experience with complex nonprofit organization
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
- Comprehensive understanding of financial operations (audits,
budgeting, AP/AR, GL, payroll, investments)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, advanced Excel, and cloud-based
financial systems
- Knowledge of data analytics for financial decision-making
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills, especially in explaining
complex financial concepts
- Collaborative approach to financial managementWe prefer these
additional skills-
- Active or inactive CPA license
- Experience with fund and grant accounting
